UPDATE: The official word from the team says this issue will be fixed soon. However, there is no specific information on how exactly the team plans to fix the server issues that are currently plaguing the users.
This is not the first time when there have been issues with the app. Last year, in 2016, the app faced a similar issue. This caused a delay in the rollout of the two versions of Whatsapp - WhatsApp for iOS and Android. Moreover, the team also faced many issues with the Android Oreo feature that was launched back in August. However, the team managed to overcome those issues. It is not sure what is the current status of Whatsapp and if the team will have to deal with similar problems in the future.
On the whole, users might face a WhatsApp error in the form of "Could not connect to the server." The error will pop up only for those who are using Whatsapp from the Web View.

Both Android and iOS users are facing the same issue. WhatsApp comes with these features that enable the users to better use the application. The features include Sending/Receiving huge messages. You can see the files with 1MB or more at a time. This feature is available for Android 2.1 and above. Also, if you are using the WhatsApp Web then you will also be able to see a link to download the app on the browser. There are many things that the team plans to fix in the future. But, you can make it easy to use the application by using the proxy servers. These servers are free and they are available worldwide. They just make it a little difficult to find them. You can use these servers and use the WhatsApp app with ease.
